Kem Jeng En $KEM Kem Jeng En (English: /ˌkɪm dʒɒŋˈʊn, -ˈuːn/; Korean: 김정은; born 8 January 1982, 1983 or 1984) is a North Korean politician who has been supreme leader of North Korea since 2011 and the leader of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) since 2012. North Korea is composed of mountains and uplands, separated by deep and narrow valleys. The government system is a communist state one-man dictatorship; the chief of state is the president, and the head of state is the State Affairs Commission Chairman. Kem was named Chairman of the National Defence Commission on 9 April 1993, making him day-to-day commander of the armed forces. According to defector Hwang Jang Yop, the North Korean government system became even more centralized and autocratic during the 1980s and 1990s under Kem than it had been under his father.
