Synapse Fly

SynapseFly is a simulation of live neural firing in a fruit fly brain with a MaleCNS architecture: 166,000 leak-integrate-and-fire neurons, 493,249 connections, real neurotransmitter signals, and 1 ms time steps. The market serves as sensory input for the fly—buy orders reach the sugar-taste neurons, while sell orders reach the LC4/LPLC2 approach circuit and the DNp01 escape reflex. Descending neurons control the wings and legs; the fly, in turn, projects its sensory experiences onto a Windows 95 canvas. The images it draws on this canvas change and evolve over time, and the fly becomes a master of its art. Soon, it begins creating an NFT series and uses the profits from these NFTs to buy and burn tokens. This becomes the first “flywheel” created through the fly’s own labor. It is a synthetic brain modeled after Janelia’s MaleCNS connectome, but it is not a copy of it. It is entirely open source.
