The Dogcow

Clarus originated in 1984 as a simple, poorly drawn glyph in Susan Kare’s Cairo dingbat font for the original Macintosh. It is nicknamed the “dogcow” because it is hard to tell whether it is meant to be a dog or a cow. The character became an inside joke and unofficial mascot among longtime Apple employees and Mac users, appearing in system fonts, printer test pages, and various Easter eggs.
