The Promethean Pigeon

It is all over French News... In Génis, Dordogne, a single pigeon flying past collided with an electrical power line, was electrocuted and caught fire mid air. When its burning body hit the ground it ignited the dry grass below and sparked a blaze that tore through 2.5 hectares of vegetation. Firefighters battled it for over an hour before it was brought under control. The mayor of Génis called it “extremely rare.” The Promethean Pigeon. In Greek mythology Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind, sparking civilisation itself. This pigeon did the same thing by accident. One collision, one spark, and it delivered fire to the earth.
