Heard gunfire, ran toward it, drew his suppressed Five Seven, and returned fire with an off-duty officer. Shooter driven off (later dead by suicide). Police credit them with saving lives. He trained for years after the 2021 Boise mall shooting, quoting “train like your life depends on it.” HE felt zero fear. Stood down when cops arrived: “My part is done."
