Piper is Edinburgh Zoo’s newest little powerhouse. Born on July 31, 2026 to parents Otto and Gloria, the tiny female pygmy hippo weighed just under 5.5 kg at her first health check. Keepers named her Piper because her adorable huffs and puffs sounded like a little bagpipe. As the younger sister of internet-famous Haggis, Piper is already stepping into the spotlight with her growing confidence and big personality.
