For those who don’t know, Suica is JR East’s electronic transit card, used daily by millions of people across Japan since 2001. For 25 years, its identity has been represented by the iconic Suica Penguin. Now, the penguin is retiring. On September 8, 2026, JR East revealed three possible successors and opened a public vote.
