Kenny is a rhesus macaque who has been locked inside a York University laboratory since 2015 and what he's endured there is hard to read. After more than a day of scratching at a protruding brain implant until it bled, Kenny finally pulled the device out himself, leaving an oozing wound on his head. Nobody stopped it from happening. He spends his days in a small, barren cage, socially isolated, with a restraint collar around his neck and his water deliberately restricted to keep him cooperative during experiments. He has been been confined in that same building for over 10 years. For Kenny, there is no sign of when or if it ends.
