Centience is an experimental token from engineering & product studio Somewhere Systems: the in-universe currency for powering features like multimedia generation in the web-based hypermedia workstation Centience Worlds (https://centience.io). Users who hold $CENTS can use it to access experimental platforms developed by Somewhere Systems as a testbed for advanced “hypermedia experiences”: generative video, environmental storytelling & social media proofs-of-concept too strange to launch to the wider world but just strange enough to retain a cult fanbase. Centience serves as a fungible “software license” for an evolving suite of hypermedia & agentic AI tools, developed in-house by award-winning software & multimedia engineers — giving democratic control over the groundwork for its continual research & development. Centience Worlds is the first multimodal worldsim client — a multiplayer version of concepts like Worldsim and Truth Terminal, and allows users to navigate an infinite choose-your-own adventure throughout the “multiverse”.
