Iphigenia was a baby penguin recovering from an injury at the Penguin Rehab & Release center in Australia. She was euthanized because authorities believed she had Bird Flu and wanted to prevent it from spreading. After being killed, the tests showed that she DID NOT have Bird Flu or any reason to be euthanized. In Greek mythology, Iphigenia was offered as a sacrifice for what others believed was the greater good - that's what she's named after.
