68 years ago Laika the dog was launched into space by the Soviet Union to become the first animal to orbit the Earth. No plans were made for her return and she died a few hours later due to overheating and stress. As NASA embarks on its Artemis Moon Mission tomorrow for the first time in 54 years, we would like to take the moment to remember Laika the dog, a brave innocent dog who’s experience into space was both heartbreaking and yet inspirational at the same time
