POPE LEO XIV

Pope Leo XIV (Latin: Leo XIV PP; real name: Robert Francis Prevost; * September 14, 1955 in Chicago) has been the 267th Bishop of Rome since May 8, 2025 and is therefore the Pope, head of the Roman Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican State. The US-American cleric was a curia cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was Prior General of the Augustinian Order from 2001 to 2013. He was Bishop of Chiclayo from 2015 to 2023. On January 30, 2023, he was appointed Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops. On May 8, 2025, he was elected Pope as the successor to Pope Francis and the first US-American to hold this office
