She was called ‘rh2519’ by Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) staff, but was nicknamed ‘Princess’ by a PETA investigator to reflect her sweet-natured, gentle personality. She was forced to breed over & over again & pulled out her own hair—according to experts, due to frustration & psychological distress. Every one of her babies was torn away by experimenters for use in tests. Princess was impregnated & then infected with the Zika virus. In early December of 2021, she was killed and her fetus was removed from her body for analysis. She was 17 years old.
