Back in late 2010, a bunch of oldfags on 4chan pretended to be newfags and started pushing Newface as the next evolution of Troll Face, straight-up calling the original “Oldface.” It was genius trolling. The old guard lost their minds defending the classic, feeding the trolls exactly like they wanted. For a full day and night (Dec 11–12), the boards lit up with endless funny variations. Even now, most people outside that chaos still say the original Troll Face is better. That heated back-and-forth is what made the whole thing so damn fun. It’s a perfect reminder that internet culture stays alive when people take bold swings and care enough to fight back. Oldface or Newface, the energy is what matters.
